MonoDevelop 2.4 is out

MonoDevelopLogoThe Mono project is an open source clone of. NET framework Microsoft. Its director, Miguel de Icaza has announced the arrival of his MonoDevelop Development Environment 2.4, consistent with Linux, Windows and Mac OS X. Many new features make their entry. Note the arrival of a engine and a new navigation bar and search function autocompletion.

Listed tools, MonoTouch (for developing applications for iPhones) has better support. To be fair, talking about MonoDroid (for developing applications for Android),. Due to its late onset, the tool is still in beta.

The UI has also been reviewed in depth.

Finally, side language, support for Vala has greatly improved. Vala is a programming language compiled. Its syntax is based on that of C # but it requires no runtime environment. Vala is transformed into C code, itself compiled into native machine code.

What can "produce software that requires less memory and run faster. Furthermore, the transition from step C makes it possible to use C libraries with interfaces defined in the files Vapi" (from Wikipedia).

These are just a few innovations from among the long list of improvements to the IDE.

Internet Explorer 9 faster than Safari 5?

They say that, sometimes, development teams are likely.

At the launch of Safari 5 (yesterday), Apple did not lose to emphasize that his browser was much faster than its main competitors, namely Chrome and Firefox.

No word, however, Internet Explorer, superbly ignored.

Microsoft responded today with a small video that there is no comparison with four path: Internet Explorer 9 is fast, very fast, very fast. So much faster than Safari 5 bear bad (or no) comparison.

While it is still a bit early to make a real opinion (EI 9 is still in its second preview release), it is clear, however, that Microsoft's browser will make up part of the hardware acceleration (using the GPU and not the CPU) for video and other multimedia content (including Flash).

Note that Safari 5 does not offer this type of technology (hence the test results from Microsoft).

In contrast to the JavaScript (subject not addressed in the video), Safari 5 should continue to hold its own in the game

Anyway, the message is clear. The next time Apple decides to denigrate its competitors, thank you for not forgetting Microsoft.

The video is on this page (requires Silverlight).

Windows 8 come out on 1 July 2011, info or jock ?

And one new rumor about Windows 8, one!

Apparently an employee of Redmond has produced a roadmap that would indicate a release date for the next operating system from Microsoft.

If you believe this document (to be taken lightly, because its origin microsoftienne is a rumor, although the dates he cites for other releases have proved accurate), Windows 8 should be delivered on first July 2011.

Which is separated from us only 17 months ....

The core of the new OS should be completely redesigned to adapt to future technology generations. This, at least strongly hope that many people.

Microsoft Word legal : Patent infringement

Word logoMicrosoft has asked the Federal Court of Appeals to reconsider its decision. It did not.

In his trial, which opposes the company i4i, so Microsoft has to lose another round. Justice considers that Word, word processing of Redmond, has indeed infringed patents belonging to the "small" company.

The decision of a judge said even the "voluntariness" of patent infringement because the evidence provided by i4i showed clearly that Microsoft employees had attended the presentation of the technologies of their competitors.

The appeal was filed that Redmond was to hear again all the players file: the complainant i4i - of course - but also all the judges who ruled in that case (which, for the record, 3 of which had first call confirmed the ban on sale December 22 last).

This procedure is called "en banc". An expression of American law very appropriate that the judges can imagine sitting next to each other to call college.

The chances that such hearings "en banc" occurring today are virtually zero unless dramatic turn of events. Microsoft, however, can still bring the case before the Supreme Court.

For the CEO i4i, this is a "decision even more detailed and reasoned that goes in our direction."Microsoft has not yet reacted. The company may still further be ordered to pay 240 million dollars in damages to his adversary.

Google has an appetite of an ogre. Having bought these last weeks of start-up as diverse as Picnik, Aardvark and remail it was the turn of DocVerse falling into the hands of the Internet group.
Created in 2007 by former Microsoft employees, DocVerse comes in the form of an extension dedicated to the Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) that offers its users to update, synchronize and back up these types of documents online.

DocVerse also deploys a tool for online collaboration, which allows a designated group in real time, view, annotate and edit at will Office documents, but also to save and synchronize mode cloud computing.

The amount of the transaction were not disclosed. But thanks to the acquisition of DocVerse, Google does a great snub to Microsoft. Indeed, the Mountain View company intends to foster interoperability between its Office Suite Google Docs (and Google Apps software suite) and Microsoft Office applications.

The ultimate objective is for Google, especially through DocVerse, pushing many users of Microsoft Office to its own office tools and online collaboration.

Already, a few weeks ago, Google had made a further step towards cloud computing by offering users of Google Docs service for storing and sharing documents online.
